5 Trends To Leave Behind in 2014 & What To Wear in 2015

5 Trends To Leave Behind & 5 More To Adopt

5 Trends To Leave Behind & 5 More To Adopt by jhalisa-xo featuring gladiator shoes

The year 2014 has been a really creative one for the fashion world. New takes on old silhouettes were thrown at us left and right. Designers created collections inspired by diverse cultures throughout the world, and Rihanna proved that she is the ultimate Fashion Icon by wearing that unforgettable sheer dress to the CFDA Awards.
But alas, the time has come for us to shed our 2014 style skins, and slither into the possibilities that 2015 has for us. This year, I'm predicating a rapid move away from the juvenile, gypsy-child sort of look, to a more clean and smart type of youthful take on the very independent 21st-century woman. Hopefully young women realize that they don't have to show too much skin to be sexy in 2015. Thus, I have come up with a list of key pieces every fashionista should include in their wardrobe this year:
  1. A pair of flatform shoes - preferably in black or white so you would be able to pair them with multiple summer outfits.
  2. A collarless cape blazer - tres chic and classes up any outfit in an instant. Calling all Fashion Superheroes!
  3. A chic haircut - Long, lustrous locks were all the rage in 2014, and quite frankly, it has become sort of blah! I suggest taking a leap and going short. Not short-short, but a quick trim may be long overdue.
  4. A pair of culottes - These pants are like the less flowly, shorter and sophisticated version of palazzo pants. Enough of those slouchy bottoms! Get yourself some culottes.
  5. Structured tops - I'm so over crop tops! And you should be too. I mean, everyone and their mother has already checked out your ripped mid-section so, time to cover it up and get back to that whole 'less is more, leave more to the imagination' type of thing.
I can't wait to get my hands on everything on this list and style them with pieces I already have in my closet. What is on your fashion wishlist for 2015? Comment below or message me on Twitter.

Love,
Jhalisa J.
